Katie May Douglas is an Australian contemporary dance artist based in Munich, Germany. After growing up in a small coastal town studying various styles including the RAD technique, she moved North to receive her Diploma of Dance Performance at the National College of Dance in NSW, Australia.

Wanting to further her contemporary skills overseas, Katie travelled to Germany where she completed her Bühnenreife-Diplom at IWANSON International working with choreographers such as Jochen Heckmann (Staatstheater Augsburg), Patrick Delcroix (NDT), Jan Kodet (National Theatre Prague) and Minka Marie Heiss (Kompanie Hausgemacht).

Katie has since had work experience and residencies with various groups in the UK, Scotland, Australia and Germany. Katie has worked professionally on dance videos with musicians and other dance artists such as “Ojn” directed by Robert Söderström in Sweden.

Katie has worked recently as a dancer in the company Juliette Rahon & Co in ‘1001 leben’ in Leipzig as well as touring in the Faroe Islands. She has been working locally in a co-creation lab with Bea-Carolina Remark and as co-choreographer and co-director for the performance piece ‘This Is Not A Drill’ at Lost Weekend, Munich.

Katie has become more interested in creating dance in new spaces, connecting with the non-artistic community and exploring the concept of making change through dance and collaboration.
